Richard Quinn is a 2014 BA Graduate and 2016 MA Graduate of Central Saint Martins in London. His infamous and award-winning MA Collection took his idea of transforming a woman into a textile by entirely immersing her in color and print. When coming off a Collection like that Richard wasted no time and launched his label in 2016. His label has risen quickly through the world of fashion as in 2017 he was awarded the NEWGEN award which allowed him to show at London Fashion Week. The year 2018 would turn out to be his year, as in February 2018, Queen Elizabeth II attended his Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Collection (her first time ever at LFW) to present him with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. He caused a big stir when Amal Clooney chose to wear one of his designs to The Met Gala in May 2018 instead of the gown that was designed for her by Tom Ford. And then the icing on the cake was his nomination and win of the British Emerging Talent Award 2018 from the British Fashion Council.
Richard is truly a talented and innovative designer and it shows through every collection he designs. For his Spring/Summer 2019 Collection he drew inspiration from both The Phantom of the Opera and The Stepford Wives. The Collection was pure glamour, full of designs sporting prints in floral, Hawaiian, polka dots, leopard, tiger, zebra, and gingham. The designs themselves included capes, 50's prom-style dresses, short jackets, the New Look silhouettes, a belted coat dress, and strapless and flapper dresses. And don't forget the velvet ski masks and stiletto heels. Richard oozes glamour and talent through each of his designs so, you immediately see why you know he is important to watch.
