Meredith Bullen
PARSONS MFA FASHION DESIGN - SPRING 2020
Before Meredith Bullen began designing, she trained as a classical ballet dancer. So it is no surprise that ballet is an inspiration for her silhouettes and fabric development of her MFA thesis from Parsons. She used both her dance and design knowledge to blend, combine, and merge properties of each.
When her collection walked down the runway, you saw the marriage of her two inspirations through leotards that were part of denim ensembles and Swarovski crystal embellishments for flare. She used the technique of decoration to sharpen the designs. But this did not take away from the fact that her thesis made you think about sustainability and the "need to push creativity, good design, and innovation which will solve the problem."
